Make no mistake about it. The God I believe in is all-powerful. His strength is unlimited. It’s constant and doesn’t diminish over time. He has shown it throughout biblical history. And He continues to show it today through many transformed lives I’ve personally witnessed.
However, He can’t do EVERY thing. He can’t sin. He can’t lie. He can’t lose power. Bottom-line, He can’t contradict Himself.
Growing up, I heard stories of how God worked mighty miracles throughout history. I read bible stories of creation, healings, protection and provision. God also opened my eyes to see that miracles still happen today.
The changes in my life are nothing short of a miracle.
I heard people ask in various ways… “Can God REALLY do anything? Is His power REALLY unlimited?” It made me think.
The answer is “YES”. He can do anything He desires. And the answer is “NO”. He can’t go against His nature. Some people define that as a “limitation”.
For me, these so called “limitations” are actually the most reassuring characteristics that make me trust God more. Here’s a list of Him being true to His nature.
1. God Can’t Break a Promise
When God gives a promise, He is true to His word. He also has the power to make sure that He keeps it. The more I read the bible, the more promises I become aware of.
Some of His promises are conditional. He wants me to do my part. But when I do so, I’m guaranteed that He’ll keep His word.
2. God Can’t Make a Mistake
Being true to His perfect nature, there’s no way that God can make an error. He doesn’t regret a decision, or wish He chose another alternative.
This reassures me that He didn’t make a mistake when He created me. He carefully designed my life to be what He desired it to be. I have a purpose for living.
3. God Can’t Love Me Less
God’s love for me is unconditional. It’s not dependent on circumstances or my performance. His love is constant and doesn’t change.
As a human, I tend to try earning more of God’s love. When I fail, I wrongly think that God loves me less. I must understand God’s heavenly kind of love. As His child, He loves me. Period.
4. God Can’t Leave Me
Once I started my personal relationship with Him, He has committed to never leave me nor forsake me. In good times and in bad, His presence is constant.
There might be times that I feel abandoned and lonely. But the truth remains. I’m never by myself. He’s with me every step of the way.
5. God Can’t Decide for Me
As part of God’s nature to love, He gives me free will. He shows His will for my life when I seek it with all my heart. He’ll usually impress it to me through His word and through circumstances. But in the end, I make my own decisions.
If God decided everything for me, then I’m no different from a typical robot. I have the free will to respond properly to the love He’s shown me.
God’s nature of love, purity and perfection seemingly “limit” what He can do. But they are the most reassuring blessings I can receive from Him.
I have peace in my heart when I read Jeremiah 33:27:
“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?”
